In honour of the 40-year anniversary of the Prince movie 'Purple Rain' and the tour, photographer Govert de Roos has worked on a special book about the Purple Genius.
You see, there is something special about it. Govert was the only photographer that was allowed to photograph the first performance of the tour in its totality.

It was thanks to Apollonia that he was introduced to Prince, who complimented Govert on his work with Apollonia, Vanity and Sheila when they first met. Prince gave him an all-access pass through which he was allowed to be the only photographer that was close to Prince during the performance.

It allowed for unreplicable pictures, close-up solos and detailed expressions.
